Visionaries in the Food Business since 1924
•1924: Grandpa Leon left his native Austria, moved to Chicago, and opened a sausage manufacturing plant called Leon’s Sausage Company on the city’s Near West side.
•1966: Leon’s son, Irv, expanded the business into a successful meat processing facility, making the full line of Leon’s Sausage products available to customers throughout the Midwest.
•1991: Leon’s granddaughter, Amylu, purchased the company and became the third-generation owner.
•1992: Purchase of Slotkowski Sausage, another Chicago based company with a long history of producing high-quality sausage products in the Old-World tradition.
•1994: After two years of R&D, Amylu launches her Sausages by Amylu all-natural chicken sausage line.
•2006: Introduction of A.K. Gourmet, a line of all-natural specialty ethnic sausages.
•2007: The premiere of Meatballs by Amylu, a unique culinary twist to the average meatball.
•2008: Company name change to ATK Foods Inc. to reflect the broad range of food products being created.
•2009: Amylu’s creativity inspires the creation of Burgers by Amylu, a line of uniquely-flavored fully-cooked chicken burgers.
